Provenance:

According to Bente 1968, the earliest layer (ff. 1-86) was probably copied in Augsburg or Innsbruck, for use by the imperial court chapel of Maximilian I (1459-1519); this was then taken to Munich by Ludwig Senfl c. 1523, when he began serving at the court chapel of Wilhelm IV, Duke of Bavaria (1493-1550). At Munich, additional pieces were copied, the fascicles assembled in the present order, the volume bound in present covers and placed in the ducal court library.
